Description: During this project, students are introduced to puppets and storytelling. Students learn about the history of puppets, the various types of puppets and design their own! Students are also introduced to storytelling including the history, different kinds, and elements of a story. They then write their own story! Students’ efforts then cumulate in creating their own puppet using basic makerspace materials and telling their story using that puppet. Extend this project by utilizing the laser cutter to create a more advanced puppet with the class. This project includes three lessons and takes approximately three hours to complete.
