Description: This project explores the multifaceted world of team logos, exploring their historical evolution, symbolic meanings, and crucial role in establishing brand identity and fostering team unity. This project provides an engaging introduction to computer-aided design (CAD) and hands-on experience with makerspace equipment, making it an ideal cross-curricular activity. This versatile project is also adaptable for students of all grade levels, from elementary explorations of simple shapes and colors to advanced high school investigations of design theory and marketing strategies. The project’s open-ended nature allows for customization based on available resources and student skill levels. The creation of the team logos can be made using a variety of makerspace equipment including the 3D printer, laser cutter/engraver, vinyl cutter/printer, or CNC router. This project includes two lessons: Logos 101, and Team Logos and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. That time will vary by class size and available makerspace equipment.
Standards: This project aligns to Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, and Florida CPALMS Standards for third grade through twelfth grade.
